Ms Kiran Mazumdar Shaw has been appointed the Chairperson of IIM Bangalore Board of Governors succeeding Mr. Mukesh D Ambani at the meeting of Board of Governors held on February 11, 2014. The appointment duly notified by the Minsitry of HRD Government of India became effective from February 11, 2014.
With her appointment, Ms Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, the Chairman and Managing Director, Biocon Limited, and a member of the IIMB Board for the past several years becomes the first woman chairperson of Board of governors of any IIM Board. Her appointment was finalised consequent upon the decision of Mr. Mukesh D Ambani, who has held this position for the last eight years, to step down. The change of guard is expected to see many innovative policy decisions and structural changes.
IIM Bangalore is the top rated B school and holds second rank in MBAUniverse.com ranking 2013 amongst the top 100 management institutes of India.
