The Common Admission Test 2013 (CAT 2013) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) to select students for their respective Business Administration Programmes took off to a slow start from October 16, 2013. Since thena total of 126831 students have taken the test in 14 days out of the test window of 20 days which is going to end on November 11, 2013.
The American firmPrometric has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the computer based test.
The CAT exams took off with a slow start with an average of 5,000 students appearing for the test in the first week with their numbers rising in the second week. In a unique trend of its kind, the number of students taking up the test has been high during the weekend as compared to the week days which witnessed usually low turnout of the test takers. During the first week the number of students on the day 4 which was Sunday October 20, 2014 was 10,473.
With just seven days of the examination window left, there are near about 67,000 students who will be taking up the test. As a result on an average around 10,000 students will have to take the test daily to reach the desired target.
The last 5 days of the test window before November 02, 2013 witnessed a steep rise in the numbers of test takers with Day 14, November 02 witnessing a total of 13,255 students taking up the test.
As claimed by the test takers and experts, CAT 2013 has been unpredictable throughout . On the 14th day of CAT 2013 a test taker Anuj Gupta from Noida while talking to the MBAUniverse.com editorial team said that I think one question in DI section in my paper had wrong options. The question on expected rainfall did not have correct options.
