MDI Gurgaon commences 5th batch of Executive PG Diploma in Energy Management

The Management Development Institute (MDI) commenced the 5th Executive PG Diploma in Energy Management batch on July 14, 2009 at its campus in Gurgaon. The commencement was addressed by Former Secretary Ministry of Power, Government of India and Member, MDI Board of Governors, RV Shahi.A seminar on India Energy Security was organized at MDI Gurgaon to sensitize the participants. Prominent among those who participated from the industry were, Raghu Cavale, Vice-President, Infosys; Jeet Chhatwal, Director (HR), Bechtel; Arun Bhalla, Executive Director, PTC; Dr Pawan Singh, Director (Finance), Delhi Transco; Kalyan Chhakravarty, GM, REC; Hemlata Vyas, DGM, Jindal Power; Gaurav Bhatiani, Project Manager, USAID and 80 delegates from other industries. In the panel discussion and thereafter, it was unanimously agreed that in India the problem of energy should be analyzed from the demand side as well as supply side. The Dean of Executive Post Graduate Program, Prof. Atmanand, said that MDI has been able to achieve 100% placement for the previous batch.In his inaugural address, chief guest Shahi congratulated MDI Gurgaon for conducting the program. Shahi congratulated MDI Gurgaon and said, MDI Gurgaon has been running the program effectively and it also became an independent program in the few years of its existence. He spoke on the urgent need to up the skill of people in the energy sector, and said, Only then would the country be able to cherish the fruits of the reform process in the power sector. He also commented on Indias need to produce more power to meet the needs of the country at the commencement program.
