You need to be the change you want to see, said the Chief Guest, Mr. A.P.Parigi- Managing director, ENIL, and Managing director and CEO, Times Infotainment Ltd., as he welcomed the new (PGPCM(C) ( Post Graduate Diploma in Communications Management) batch of students to MICA on July 6.
The function was commenced by the lamp lighting ceremony. This was followed by a welcome address by Dr. Arbind Sinha, the Acting Director of MICA.
Chief guest, Mr. Parigi started his speech in an inspiring way by stating from his personal experience about how he set the balance between two institutions which he strongly believes in- Ambition and Respect for every other individual. He shared the story of Radio Mirchi and his experience in the Telecommunications Industry. He referred to the batch of young students as the Now Generation who are in constant search of instant gratification or anguish. He shared an interesting method of looking at the Target Group for marketers with the aid of a mathematical equation- A3+C3. A3 stands for Awareness, Access to the brand & Affordability while C3 stands for Convenience, Choice & Control. He motivated the students to take responsibility for their actions and to be sensitive to the problems facing the nation. He concluded the speech by saying, Be ambitious and Dream high.
The Scholastic medals for the 15th Batch of PGPCM (2008-10) were also awarded. The gold medal was awarded to Miss. Gargi Bhatt. The first runner up was Mr. Aseem Tuli. The Second runner up position was jointly held by Miss. Nivedhitha Krishnan and Mrs.Shipra Arora. The function ended with the Vote of Thanks by the Academic Dean of MICA, Professor. Chandan Chatterjee.
Prof. Atul Tandan, who recently completed his stint as the director of MICA, also addressed the audience. MICA is changing, and I believe it is for the good. Let us march ahead with it, he said before signing off.
