The world forum will be hosted at XLRI Jamshedpur campus from June 7 to June 10, 2009Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI) is all set to host the International Association of Jesuit Business Schools (IAJBS) 15th World Forum from June 7 to June 10, 2009. Y.C. Deveshwar, Chairman of ITC and a firm believer in sustainable growth, is to deliver the keynote address at the conference, which will see participation from around a hundred delegates including directors, deans and senior professors from business schools in the USA, Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, and India.
This forum, which has been scheduled to be held at the XLRI Jamshedpur campus, will see papers being presented by delegates and speakers across the globe on the theme Taking The Lead Towards Sustainable Development.
Commenting on the occasion, Fr. E. Abraham, S.J. Director XLRI said, It is truly an honor for XLRI to be hosting a conference of such magnitude and repute. The primary objective of the conference will be to engage the students in a dialogue and spur them to form a collaborative action plan for the future.
The conference aims at an informative discussion on the relevance and importance of sustainable economic development in the context of the changing economic scenario. It also aims to highlight the growing gap between the conventional models of economic growth and the importance of equipping the students of Jesuit business schools with the knowledge they require to shape a more sustainable development model.
Researchers from the member business schools are to discuss subjects such as poverty alleviation, employment generation, social entrepreneurship, women empowerment, education, global warming and other environmental crises, the three basic needs of food, water and energy, as well as corporate governance and social responsibilities. The tentative theme for the conference also includes the role of business firms, government, NGOs and business schools in tacking these problems.
