CATs new avatar no big challenge for serious MBA aspirant, but implementation remains challenge: T.I.M.E.

We spoke to Hyderabad head-quartered leading test prep company Triumphant Institute of Management Education (T.I.M.E.).

Mr Jaideep Singh Chowdhary, Official Spokesperson of T.I.M.E, Hyderabad told MBAUniverse.com, The announcement should make almost no difference to the actual preparation of a serious CAT aspirant. The basic curriculum will not require any significant change since the basic inputs required to clear the exam are unlikely to change. Remember the change is in form, not in substance and offering.

Commenting on the challenges ahead for IIMs and its technology partner, Mr Chowdhary said, At an overall level, its a move that has mixed consequences. While on the one hand it will certainly help reduce the administrative load on the IIMs, it might pose a challenge to a certain section of test takers. It could further tip the balance against rural test takers and those who are not computer savvy.

He added, The scale of the CAT is unmatched by any other computer based exam. Last year around 250,000 candidates wrote the exam on a single day, whereas the GRE written by around 55,000 candidates across the year and a similar number wrote the GMAT, again throughout the year.

Advising students to stay focused, he added, The CAT basics remain the same. Successful students will be those who do well in quant, reasoning & Logic and DI. The change from paper & pencil to on-line will hardly impact this important fact.
