IIM L, MDI & IIFT students address gen-next at Management Avenues

They were addressing the event on March 21 & 22, 2009, in Allahabad and Varanasi on the topic How MBA aspirants should plan to enter top B-schools and my experience at top B-school. While suggesting the tips on different steps of getting into a good institute, Nagendra, first year PGP student, IIM L said, The first thing that a student should have is a positive attitude of I have to do it. Hard work is very essential for MBA written entrance exams like CAT, XAT, FMS etc. Taking larger number of Mock test is also very helpful. For preparation of Group Discussion and Personal Interviews, students should read lots of articles, newspapers, magazines and do some searching on internet. Motivating the students to be persistent, Nagendra said, If you arent successful in your first attempt at CAT, dont give up. Have patience, prepare well and take the exam again. I cracked CAT in my third attempt!While talking about the things that an MBA aspirant should remember, Raveesh Bhatnagar, second year student of MBA (International Business), IIFT said, Student should do extensive research before planning their MBA. They should ask themselves Why should I pursue an MBA? They should then prepare well and aim for the best. Yash Saxena, IIFT first year student of MBA (IB) said, While preparing for MBA entrance exams, you must know what are your weak areas and then work out on them regularly. For GD preparation, you should have a regular habit of reading business newspapers and magazines. At the time of PI, express yourself in the best way and be honest to yourself. Dont bluff the interviewers.While sharing his experience, Purav, first year PGPM student of MDI said, The management education at my B-school has given me diverse knowledge, importance of teamwork, and need to work hard. In my early days at MDI, I used to sleep only 4-5 hours in a day but still there is lot of fun while pursuing an MBA programme.
