Convocations 2009: Honchos descend to campuses; Deepak Parekh @ IIM A, Anand Mahindra @ IMT Ghaziabad

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad will hold its 43rd Annual Convocation on March 28, 2009, to award degrees to its Post Graduate Programs students. Mr. Deepak S Parekh, Chairman of Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited, will be the chief guest for the occasion.Mr. Vijayapat Singhania, Chairman, Board of Governers, IIM A, will present the welcome address and confer degrees on passing-out PGP students. Mr. Deepak S Parekh will deliver the Convocation address at IIM A.

A very well-known banker, Mr.Deepak Parekh is the Chairman of HDFC, the countrys leading housing finance company. He started his career as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Ernst Management Consultancy Services in New York. After returning to India, he worked with Grindlays Bank and also Chase Manhattan Bank as its assistant representative for South Asia. Deepak Parekh joined HDFC in 1978. He was promoted as its Managing Director in 1985 and appointed its Chairman in 1993.Institute of Management Technology (IMT) Ghaziabad is going to host its Annual Convocation on March 21, 2009. IMT has invited Mr. Anand G Mahindra, Vice Chairman & MD, Mahindra Group, as the chief guest to address the Annual Convocation 09.Recognized amongst Indias top business leaders, Mr. Mahindra graduated from Harvard College, Cambridge, Massachusetts, Magna cum Laude (High Honours). In 1981 he secured an MBA degree from the Harvard Business School, Boston, Massachusetts. He returned to India that year and joined Mahindra Ugine Steel Company Limited (MUSCO), the countrys foremost producer of speciality steels, as Executive Assistant to the Finance Director. In 1989 he was appointed President and Deputy Managing Director of the company.
