AIMA reveals that around 434 management institutes/universities will be accepting the MAT scores when students go to seek admissions in these institutes. The test will be conducted through 84 centres located in different parts of the country. Last time, MAT was conducted in the month of February this year. Lakhs of students appear in the MAT exam which is held four times in a year in the months of February, May, September and December.
Some of the participating B-schools are Accurate Institute of Management & Technology, Greater Noida; BDS Institute of Management, Meerut; Dr Gaur Hari Singhania Institute of Management & Research, Kanpur; Jagan Institute of Management Studies, Jaipur; Alliance Business Academy, Bangalore and NSHM Business School, Kolkata and many more.
Graduates in any discipline from a recognized university are eligible to appear in MAT exam. Final year students awaiting their results can also take MAT exam. Forms with bulletins for upcoming MAT exam are available for sale from first week of March 2009. Details of participating management institute, test-centre cities and sales outlets will also be available from first week of March 2009.
The prospectus will be available till April 8, and the last date for submission of form is April 11, 2009.The test paper for MAT is based on multiple-choice answers and designed to evaluate a students general aptitudes on five areas: Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning and awareness of Indian and Global Environment.
The duration of the test is two-and-a-half hours. There are total 200 questions fielded in MAT exam, where each question has four options. Each question carries one mark, and for each wrong answer, there will be negative marking.
While commenting on the objective of MAT exam, AIMA says, The objective of MAT is to assess the potential of a candidate to pursue a management program. Towards that end, the paper tests the verbal ability, numerical ability and logical thinking of candidates. MAT Score is acceptable even to some other Institutes for considering admission of candidates for Post Graduate Degree / Diploma programs, besides the above Institutes, subject to specific cut-off marks and other admission parameters.
