XLRI, ICSI to organize conference on Companies Bill Act for effective corporate governance

While commenting on the motive behind the launch of the seminar, XLRI says, There seems to be an immense need for new laws to tackle the current corporate scenario by promoting and enabling Indian businesses to run in a more efficient manner. The tampering of financial statements at Satyam Computer Services demonstrates the need for new Bill ensuring corporate governance. The Companies Bill 2008 seeks to enable the corporate sector in India to operate in a regulatory environment of best international practices.The seminar will be inaugurated with the welcome address of chief guest for the event Mr. G K Pillai, Chairman & Managing Director of Heavy Engineering Corporation. Other dignitaries who are invited to present their views at the event include Mr D P Chakravarti, Senior General Manager and Secretary, Goodricke Group Ltd, he is also the Member of expert Committee on Taxation & Economic Affairs of Indian Chamber of Commerce; Mr B B Chatterjee, Executive Vice President & Company Secretary ITC, he is on the Boards of various ITC subsidiaries including ITC Infotech India Ltd and its subsidiaries in the UK and the USA; Mr Nesar Ahmad, practicing as Company Secretary in the areas of Corporate and Securities Laws since 1993.While highlighting the crisis of job recession, XLRI views, In order to encourage Indian professionals to participate in the international business community without apprehension of being subject to excessive liability, the new LLP Act has come to anexistence. In the current scenario of job recession, when lots of B-School graduates are looking forward to starting up their own ventures, this new act would encourage them to combine their professional expertise and entrepreneurial initiative to operate in a protected, innovative and efficient manner.
