IDEA Cellular COO addresses AIMA lecture session on Leadership Qualities for Emerging Times

The objective behind the launch of the lecture series and particularly the session on leadership qualities is to help management students and executives to understand the prerequisite attributes of leadership and develop a holistic approach towards problems in the emerging times.

AIMA invited Mr. Atul Chaturvedi, Chief Operating Officer of Idea Cellular Ltd, to address the theme.Mr Chaturvedi highlighted some keypoints as attributes of leadership: integrity, dedication, magnanimity, openness and creativity.
Mr Chaturvedi divided his address into two different perspectives of a common theme Leadership Qualities for the Emerging Times. These two are: a) leadership in the current crisis and b) leadership in the 21st century.

While talking about the role of leadership in the current crisis, he said that having patience during the crisis is the best way to face it. He also urged budding managers and entrepreneurs to develop sound character to remain focused about their objectives rather than getting diverted into different directions at the time of crisis. Mr Chaturvedi further said that true knowledge of self is a vital part of leadership as it helps leaders to follow their own instincts rather than walking on trodden path. He also highlighted the importance of experience in tackling day-to-day problems facing todays corporate world. He said that leadership is all about motivating and inspiring people towards common objectives.

While giving his viewpoints on leadership in 21st century, Mr Chaturvedi said that leaders must synchronize their style of leadership according to todays fast moving technology-enabled business, and at the same time, hold multiple perspectives to address problems coming their way so that the best possible solution is sought. He also advised managers and entrepreneurs to be cost focused while investing for tomorrow.
