It will be a product design competition which is now being held for the third consecutive year and has participation from colleges all over India ranging from architectural, engineering colleges to B-Schools. The last date for sending the brief to participate in the event is March 1, 2009.
Experts from industry like Sugandh Malhotra, Styling Designer of Honda Global Styling, Mr. Gurpreet Kaur, Think 3 Ltd, will be judging the participants.
According to IIT Roorkee, the event has three problem statements on Design for Social Need, Environment Friendly Design and Design for the Future. Prodesk 3.0 will be held in two phases - Submission of a brief and Presentation of the final design and prototype of the product.
The design for social need deals with devising a business model to include the large population of unlicensed petty vendors socially and economically and regulating them to make their business more viable. The environment friendly design involves designing a bicycle with a toolkit and first-aid kit. The design for the future should be ergonomically designed multi-purpose appliances that can perform many household chores, said IIT Roorkee.
Summer Training (Management and Technical) and lots of cash prizes are at stake this year. Royalty would also be given in case of product development, discloses IIT Roorkee.
