On the occasion of Foundation Day, AIMA conferred five awards: Dr Ram Tarneja Award for best article in Indian management to Prof Seema Girdhar, Sr Lecturer, Guru Nanak Institute of Management; AIMA-Dr JS Juneja Award for Creativity & Innovation for Small & Medium Enterprises to Muskaan Power Infrastructure Ltd.; Public Service Excellence Award to Mr G Madhavan Nair, Chairman, ISRO & his Team and Mr Sudhir Kumar, Officer on Special Duty to Railway Minister; JRD Tata Corporate Leadership Award to Mr Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman, Aditya Birla Group and Life Time Achievement Award for Management t Dr V Kurien, Founder Chairman, National Dairy Development Board, Anand.
The occasion had the theme Management & Leadership Challenges in Turbulent Times. The Welcome Address was delivered by Mr SK Swamy, President, AIMA and Note of thanks was delivered by Mr Sanjiv Goenka, Sr Vice President, AIMA.
While delivering the inspirational speech, Mr Yadav said, In the times of economic slowdown, there is a challenge for India and we need to come out from the bad times. Provding better education and managing better will help us in the growth India.
Mr Kurien said, The true development of any organization is depends on the development of human beings.
Mr Birla shared his experiences of Birla Group and talked on developing Global Leadership Talent. He said, Aditya Birla Group has been a pioneer in championing globalization in India. We expanded the business outside India in 70s, long before it became a buzzword. Today 60% of our revenues come from outside India. To achieve this, we have nurtured global managers in our group. These elite class of managers are a bread apart, and can work across geographies and cultures.
Mr Birla added, As a company, we believe in connecting with our people emotionally.
Mr Swamy remarked, We have been facing the global economic meltdown from past few months. There is need of enthusiastic people with the can do spirit to come out of this economic downturn.
