Management expert Dr CS Venkata Ratnam, Director of New Delhi based International Management Institute answers questions posed by our readers on his Ask Venkat column on MBAUniverse.com. Dr Venkata Ratnam responded many questions of Hundreds of students, executives and managers from India and overseas which helped them to choose better options in their management education.Dr Ratnam recently offered his advice on queries of working executives and students who want to do Ex-MBA from IIMS and Distance MBA. Here are some questions:

Q: Dear Sir, I am a graduate in commerce (Year 2005) do have around 3.5 years exp. Currently I am working with a MNC, but at a basic level. I have for enrolled for EPYP IIM C in 2008. Please advice me on- 1) how this would help me to grow in my career. 2) Shall I do any other course after completion of this course or along with the course to grow? 3) What would be the career prospects for this course? Kindly suggest.Manidhar, (Hyderabad)
A: Whether and how you will benefit in your career from the course depends on what you make of the course in terms of learning and how you convince the recruiters about its relevance to the job you are seeking. Remember to leverage on your graduation and work experience. Doing too many courses will not improve career prospects.

Q: Hello sir, I am an IT professional with almost 2 yrs experience. I want to pursue executive MBA. I have thought of two options either doing online executive MBA from IMT Ghaziabad or going for NIIT Imperia courses. Could you please suggest me which one will be better to take, and which one has more market value? Please suggest.Sukanya Sengupta, (Kolkata)
A: If you are in Kolkota why not try the NIIT Imperia course IIM Kolkota offers or the software management course that IIM Bangalore offers. Then you can build on your prior academic studies and work experience.

Q: Hi Venkat, I am working as a software engineer in java tech since 2yrs. I want to go for MBA abroad or a better one in India. What I would like to know from you is which the best schools are for MBA in Connecticut, Pennsylvania. Also are there any business schools in these places or India offering MBA in Real Estate. Can you provide me details of that course and will that suits me.Venki, (Chennai)
A: Go to AACSB site and look at the schools accredited in Connecticut and Pennsylvania. In India there are not many real estate programs. Indraprastha University in Delhi has a course. ISB Hyderabad established a research centre and offers some electives. Google search may give you additional leads.
