NMAT 2008 Analysis: Easy test with no surprises

Leading test prep institutes told MBAUniverse.com that NMAT was an easy test with no big surprises.

NMAT paper was a total of 150 questions to be attempted in 120 minutes. There were three sections - Quantitative Ability with 60 marks, Logical Reasoning with 50 marks and Language Skills with 40 marks. Negative marking was 25% of the allotted marks to the questions where each question was carrying equal marks.

NMAT 08: Overall Analysis
According to IMS Learning, NMAT 08 could boost the spirits of the test-takers. It was an easy test with no surprise element. Like last year, it was a five-option test with 150 questions. The division of the sections and the names of the sections also remained same. All the three sections were worth an attempt.

NMAT 08: Section wise analysis

Quantitative Ability

Questions based on BODMAS and Series were easy but time consuming. Some were very elementary. One should have solved Approximation based problems. Among BODMAS and Series, BODMAS should have been attempted. The questions based on Data Interpretation were on averages, ratios and percentages. All the questions involved simple calculation. One should have selected any of the Table based set and Caselet while attempting this section, shared IMS Learning.

Language Skills
According to Career Launcher, It was an easy to moderate passage connecting the Gandhian thought of perseverance and Indias growth. The vocabulary word was highlighted and five different connotations were provided and one was asked to provide the best suitable option to exchange the word in bold.

Logical Reasoning
According to IMS Learning, this was again an easy set with mixed variety of questions like word puzzle, letter analogy, odd man out, codes, selection criteria, symbol based conclusion, conditionality, sitting arrangement, sequential output tracing, relations, etc. All the questions were worth an attempt, said IMS Learning.
