IIM Calcutta team became the winner by winning Merit Certificates and rupees one lakh cash prize. In addition they have also been offered a rupees four lakhs worth of educational facilities such as short term course at LIBA at Chennai. Each participant was awarded free Associate Membership at TIE, Chennai for one year.
IIM Calcutta team was represented by Surya Narayan Lenka, Ashiwani Kumar Gupta and Anand V Ratnaparkhi from the 2008-09 batch students of PGPEX-VLM. Other participating Institutes in the competition were IIM Ahmedabad, SP Jain Institute of Management, Mumbai, IMT, Gaziabad, IBS Gurgaon, and many more. A total of 200 entries were there initially.
The objective of this competition is to foster entrepreneurship through identifying and recognizing ideas and talent that can create tomorrows businesses. Bridging borders between the contestants and the market place is the collective goal of the organizers.
The Contest is open to business ideas that involve or leverage technology in any sphere of human activity - be it services, agriculture, manufacturing, construction or education, to name a few possibilities.
The contesting teams included students and experienced professionals, and the entries were evaluated by a team of Jurors that included successful Entrepreneurs, VCs, Industry Captains and members of the Academia.

IIM Calcutta has won the Pan India Business Plan Competition 2008, which was organized by IDG Ventures India, TIE, The Indus Entrepreneurs and LIBA on 21st November 2008 at AVM Studio, Chennai.
