CAT 09: We are trying our best to take CAT Online, says, Director, IIM B

Thats the question on the minds of lakhs of CAT 09 hopefuls. MBAUniverse.com spoke to Dr Pankaj Chandra, Director, IIM Bangalore on this issue. Dr Chandra said the CAT group at IIMs is busy in the evaluation process of taking IIMs CAT Online, and the outcome will be known in a few months time. IIM Bangalore was the nodal center for the CAT 08, this year.

Talking to MBAUniverse.com, Dr Pankaj Chandra said, We are trying our level best to take make CAT as an online exam from 2009. But it is still at a planning stage. We have been meeting the expert organizations who have been involved in similar exams elsewhere. IIMs group is also evaluating its own readiness for the migration. We will come to know what we decide in a few months.

Talking about the relatively smooth conduct of CAT 2008 on November 16, Dr Chandra said, We are much relived! CAT is a very high profile exam and we took all the necessary precautions. We are happy with the way things have gone.
When MBAUniverse.com asked why IIMs dont announce the official answers to the CAT paper soon after the exams, Dr Chandra said, Its a good suggestion to declare the answers early. But CAT group perhaps has some reasons. I will check on the same.

MBAUniverse.com readers will remember that the portal published its analysis of the answer keys by leading CAT experts from IMS, Career Launcher, TIME and PT Education. As many as nine answers didnt match, leading to confusion in the minds of MBA aspirants. MBAUniverse.com then decided to seek clarification from the IIMs, and suggest that the answers can perhaps be released soon after the CAT exam. As per the current guideline, the answers will be published only on January 9, 2009.
