IIM Calcutta student bags Dewang Mehta Management Award

Mr. Chhaparia was awarded the The Dewang Mehta Award sponsored by the Onward Foundation along with a cash prize of Rs. 2 Lakhs.

The competition for the award was intense with 35 participants, each chosen from prestigious Business Schools across India. The contest was judged by a panel of 26 members consisting of the top management from illustrious business houses like the Essar Group and Johnson & Johnson. Each contestant had to speak for 5 minutes following which he was grilled by the jury for a period of 15 minutes. Mr. Chhaparias speech was centred on the three critical factors required for a successful leader Strong Values, Ability to integrate stakeholders and Ability to get things done. The parameters for judging included academic excellence combined with leadership qualities, vision and extracurricular attainments.

Mr. Chhaparia has done his schooling in Kolkata after which he proceeded to do his under-graduation in Computer Science from the prestigious Nanyang Technological Institute (NTU), Singapore on a full scholarship. In his second year at IIMC, he is also the President of the Student Council. When asked for his comments, Mr. Chhaparia said, Im truly honoured to have won this award and it was a tremendous learning opportunity for me as I got to learn a lot from my fellow contestants and the members of the Jury.
