Dr Dan le Clair, Chief Knowledge Officer AACSB

said Dr Dan le Clair, VP & Chief Knowledge Officer of AACSB International. Dr Clair added, Some Indian B-schools are concerned about quality. At present 19 Indian B-schools have become members of AACSB International, and have committed to improving the quality.

Dr Clair was addressing the session titled Voice of the Customer at the AIMS Convention. The session was chaired by Dr. Devi Singh, former director of IIM-Lucknow. Also on the panel were Dr. Furqan Qamar, Advisor - Higher Education & Culture, Planning Commission, Govt. of India and Mr. Alwin Agnel Founder CEO- Pagalguy.com.

In its efforts to improve the quality of management education across the world, AACSB International focuses on mission-linked quality. Said Dr Clair, At AACSB, we dont have an opinion on what makes a quality B-school. They have to define their own mission. And then follow up with programmes to achieve the stated mission. We measure this progress towards achieving stated mission.

When MBAUniverse.com asked how Indian B-schools fared in Asia, Dr Clair said, Asian markets are diverse with countries like China and Japan. Indian B-schools have the potential to become international brands, but need to focus on getting the global accreditation and solve faculty shortage.

Highlighting that B-schools must listen to what MBA-aspirants have to say, Mr Agnel said, Indian MBA-aspirants are aware about what they want from management education. They research about B-schools by checking opinions of friends, family and MBA community. Online communities are a great source for MBAs to learn details of B-schools.

The session ended with Dr Singh expressing that B-schools must become more aware of expectation from students, and corporates who hire their students.
