Q: Let us start by asking you about IMTs Center for Distance Learning. When was it established?
A: Institute of Management Technology, popularly known as IMT, was established in 1980. The IMT Center for Distance Learning (IMT-CDL) was set up in 1988. This makes us the oldest distance learning institution in management sector. We were recognized by Government of Indias Distance Education Council (DEC) in 2007 for offering distance education programmes. We use a unique combination of distance education, e-learning and personal contact programmes to offer efficient hybrid learning environment to students.
Q: What are various programmes under the gamut of IMT-CDL?
A: We offer a host of programmes of varying duration and focus. Our flagship programme is three year post graduate diploma in management, which is equivalent of an MBA programme. Then there are several one year focussed programmes. For instance, we offer a post graduate diploma in Cyber Security, which is delivered in collaboration with world renowned cyber security expert Ankit Fadia. We offer a post graduate diploma in taxation with Taxmann. We have recently also launched a post graduate diploma in Insurance management with Max New York Life Insurance. Then there are other one year diplomas in traditional management areas like Marketing Management and HR.
We also work closely with corporates to offer customized programmes like post graduate diploma in management (executive) and Advanced Post-Graduate Diploma in management. In this case, our faculty delivers the programmes at the corporate office itself.
Q: Which are the corporate houses that have such a tie-up with IMT CDL?A: There are many companies that have such a tie-up including IBM, Genpact, Nucleus Software and a Birla Group company.
Q: How do programmes offered by IMT CDL compare with others?
A: We believe that we are offering programmes that are at par with the best programmes. We have taken several initiatives to continuously improve our programmes. As I said, we use a unique combination of distance education, e-learning and personal contact programmes to create a hybrid learning environment to students. Using e-Learning platform developed by 24 x 7 Learning, we offer our students access to a rich digital library with which they access top international journals, books, recorded classroom teaching material and a lot more. We organize personal contact programmes where classes are held at IMT campus and other locations to aid personal interaction.
Our course curriculum and contents are updated every six months which keeps the contents fresh.
Further, we take our testing and examinations very seriously. Our exams are held by UPSC which conducts exams for civil services also. This guarantees fairness of this process.
We are interested in delivering quality management education and we dont compromise on our intake, course-curriculum, delivery process and examinations.

A: We focus on quality. We believe that if adequate efforts and processes are established, the quality of education offered by distance institutions can be as good, even better than regular full time education.
