Highlighting the objective and introducing the theme of the event, Ms Sangeeta Sahgal, Senior Partner, Lumis Partners said, This event is organized to discuss the employability issue that Indian industry and youth are facing.There are about 1 million people graduating every year in India out of which only 20% graduates are directly employable by industry. Today industry needs already trained manpower but it is unable to get that manpower, she added.
Emphasizing on the shortage of talent in India, Mr Karthik said, 57% of Indian youth suffer from skills development. 232 million people include the people between 20-34 age group where the major opportunity is.
Sharing his learnings from the journey of 24x7 Learning, Mr Karthik said, Some of the important things that an organization has to keep in their mind are:aim for the best, create challenging atmosphere for the team, keep an eye on statutory regulations, put the best finance team, and if something has gone wrong drop it even if substantial investment has gone into it.
While delivering his thoughts to the audience, said Mr Mahajan, To discuss employability is very important for the industry.It is critical for the growth story of the industry. He added,Some important things that entrepreneurs should followfor success are have strong management team with a high vision, sound cash flow, potential to be a platform, attractiveness of current market and ability to consolidate.
According to TiE, SIG will focus on the aspect of Employability for an in-depth discussion on the scope & opportunities for entrepreneurs as well as the policy initiatives by the government. The SIG provides a platform for discussion and debate around focused issues in the Education & Training sector.
