Over 200 students awarded diplomas at IMI 24th Convocation

Mr K V Kamath, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of ICICI Bank was the chief guest on the occasion. Mr R P Goenka, Chairman, IMI awarded the diplomas to over 200 graduating students of its four management programmestwo year full time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), three year part time PGDM, one year Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDMHR) and one year Post Graduate Diploma in International Business (PGDM-IB).

On the occasion, Mr Kamath also awarded gold medals to the meritorious students of various management programmes at IMI. The students who received gold medals were Ms Ankita Agarwal of PGDMHR; Ms Debarati Basu of PGDM (full time); Mr Samarth Gupta of PGDM (part time) and Mr Sudhanshu Mohan Jena of PGDM-IB.

One should keep in mind that in a highly competitive world, though great opportunities exist, they also bring their share of challenges. Change brings a high level of stress but dedicated managers handle them effortlessly. Learning at IMI has always been aimed at creating these new age dedicated managers, is what Mr Goenka has to say to the graduating batches at IMI.

While delivering his address on the occasion, said Dr C S Venkata Ratnam, Director, IMI, IMI is a unique institution. IMI was founded as an international management institution much before internationalization became a buzz word. It also has the distinction of being the first corporate sponsored institute in India. Dr Venkat added, We have been improving our record over the years. For instance, this year the CAT cut-off is 96% while it was 87.5% three years back. We focus on research and knowledge creation.

While delivering the convocation address to the IMI graduating students, Mr Kamath said, You are some of the most talented young people of today. You are the products of a new millennium. You need to think and act differently from the generation before you. IMI has provided you with the requisite skills to manage the multitude of demands that are facing todays business.

It is under your leadership that India will achieve her rightful place in the world, added Mr Kamath.
