Sunil Bharti Mittal to join elite ranks of Babsons Academy of Distinguished Entrepreneurs

Mr. Mittal has been nominated by Pearl School of Business (PSB), which is promoted by the House of Pearl.PSB has academic collaboration with Babson College, USA, the world leader in Entrepreneurial Management Education.
Since its inception in 1978, Babson Colleges ADE has recognized and honored entrepreneurs who have contributed significantly to the development of free enterprise throughout the world. Some of the most successful and visible entrepreneurs in the world are members of the academy. Richard Branson, Rupert Murdoch, Anita Roddick, Ben Cohen and Paul Fireman are some of the notable members. Collectively the 87 members of the academy have capitalized on the need for change, accepted the associated risk and responsibility, and created millions of jobs and improved societies around the globe.

Mr. Mittal is the second Indian after Dr. Amar G. Bose of Bose Corporation to be inducted into hall of fame, the Academy of Distinguished Entrepreneurs. He founded Bharti with a modest capital in 1976 at a young age of 18 and started off by manufacturing bicycle parts. Today Bharti is one Indias leading and most respected business groups with interests in telecoms, retail, agri business and financial services.

Entrepreneurs from around the world are inducted each year to ADE. Babson College considers for nomination world-class entrepreneurs from diverse industries who epitomize the success of entrepreneurship, and solicits nominations from the Babson community as well as from outside institutions. Criteria for induction are extremely difficult to fulfill. An external review panel chaired by Steve Forbes, president and chief executive officer of Forbes Inc. and editor in chief of Forbes magazine, approves all nominees. Inductees are chosen not only for outstanding business accomplishments in their fields, but also for their contributions to society.
