IT company SQL Star to provide industry-oriented supplemental education

The Education for Employment (EfE) initiative has been implemented in 12 Engineering Colleges in Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Chandigarh and Maharashtra. The EfE initiative will provide Industry-oriented supplemental education to pre-graduate students in all streams of engineering.

Speaking on this initiative, N. R. Ganti, Chairman and Managing Director, SQL Star said, The focus is to enable students of all engineering streams to improve their suitability for the booming IT/ITES industry and compete for jobs in this sector. Currently, 30% to 40% of recruitment into IT industry is from non-Computer Science and non-IT streams and the IT companies lose 4 to 6 months in training the fresh graduates to meet their requirements.

Under this Non-Disruptive Supplemental Education program, a blend of Instructor Led (ILT) and Web Enabled courses are imparted in partnership with and the active involvement of the academic institutions. The advantages of EfE courses are that it eliminates extra home-to-institute commuting and cost and is in harmony with the academic time table of the colleges, says SQL Star. The focus is on extensive practice-oriented learning, where in Instructor led learning is supplemented by material that is available on the web. This provides an opportunity to students to devote extra hours to learn while at home or hostel. The pace of the program can be tuned to tap individual strengths and meet individual requirements.

The EfE program gives students a competitive-edge over others in campus selections for jobs in IT. The comprehensive course content leads to all round improvement in long-term career prospects in IT industry. The EfE program also provides the employers to gain ready access to pre-trained and pre-assessed freshers that reduce recruitment costs. It improves conversion efficiency as a fresher requires lesser time-to-train-after-recruitment and in effect improves the prospects of taking on new business. Improvement in quantity of fresher intake also contributes to reduction in overall costs.
