Topnotch companies from diverse sectors are making lucrative offers to the students well before the start of the final placement season. According to SJMSOM, corporates have made PPOs to almost 40% of the batch.
The number of PPOs in the Finance domain overtook those in the Operations this year. This is in sync with the growing demand in the market for finance professionals and the skill match found by the recruiters for the same at SJMSOM. This year also saw Consulting companies offering niche profiles to the students in their PPOs. Apart from this, there were also PPOs from the much sought after areas of General Management, Strategy, Marketing and Systems.
Leading financial institutions like Citibank, Standard Chartered, Kotak Mahindra Bank, SBI Caps, etc. were some of the companies that offered PPOs in Finance, while companies like LOreal, Cadbury, RPG Groups Spencers Retail and others offered profiles in Operations. Feedback Ventures and The Progress Group offered exciting profiles in Consulting. Wipro and Patni Computer Systems were some of the companies which offered profiles in the Systems domain.
Says SJMSOM, Interestingly, this time around even students who hadnt interned in a particular company bagged PPOs from them. In one such case, a student got a lucrative offer in Marketing from a leading international cosmetics company on the basis of his performance in an international contest organized by it.
