Team 3G from NITIE, Mumbai was declared winner of the Business Idea contest out of the twelve short listed teams who presented their business plans in front of the jury comprising of Mr. Sanjeev Malhotra, Associate Vice President, Marcomm, Tata Teleservices Ltd. and Mr. Shekhar Agarwal, Vice President, Enterprise Business Group, Alcatel Lucient (India and SAARC).
The students were given close to two weeks to prepare and submit a Business Idea on the strategy Tata Indicom should employ to increase its ARPU (Average Revenue per Unit). The best Business Idea was selected on the basis of techno-commercial feasibility.
According to organizers, Poseidon received an overwhelming response from students across various B-Schools including IIM C, IIFT, FMS, MDI Gurgaon, NITIE and Tech-Schools like IIT Kanpur,IIT Delhi etc. with over 50 entries.
Speaking about the event, Mr. Vineet Bhatia, Regional Head, North Hub, Tata Teleservices Ltd. said, It is our effort at Tata Indicom to connect to the youth not only as consumers but to participate in their empowerment process as well. Poseidon is a platform for students to showcase their entrepreneurial and managerial talent.
The rigorous competition ensures that participants sharpen their business acumen and expand their knowledge frontiers. A business plan contest such as this enables the youth to know more about the world around us and become the well-informed future corporate leaders. A successful business model hinges on sustainable growth, market feasibility, financial feasibility and operational feasibility. He further added, Organizing such events is just a part of what we are looking at in the future in terms of youth empowerment. Tata Teleservices will be looking forward to consistently participate in such events on a much larger scale in the near future.
