Tycoons 08: City Finals set stage for Regional Finals

These finalists have made it through the grueling first round competing against more than 1.5 lakh contests. Tycoons City Finals have been held in cities like Chandigarh and Chennai. Here is a round-up of progress so far.
City Finals begin with a bang in Balasore

The first City Finals began in Balasore, Orissa on 2nd February 2008. After a drawn out five-hour long battle among more than two hundred participants, Balasore had its City Tycoons. Abhishek Pattanayak (Winner) and Shubhankar Das (Runner Up), both B.com final year students are from Fakir Mohan College.

The contestants were judged on their Business Aptitude and General Knowledge in the Written and Oral Business Quiz Rounds. The winners were announced after five tie-breaking questions following the final Extempore.
The Written Quiz Round had the highest score of 324, followed by 312. The top score for Oral Quiz Round was 75 points, accumulated by Shubhankar Das, Runner-Up, City Finals.

City Finals at Chennai
The event took place on February 2 at Narada Gana Sabha auditorium. There were 48 finalists from 15 colleges across Chennai who were awarded their College Champion trophies before the City Finals commenced.
There were two rounds at the City Finals a written business quiz, followed by its oral counterpart. 12 contestants were short listed to participate in the Oral Quiz, which comprised questions on general business, identifying business luminaries, matching celebrities with the brands they endorse, questions on brands and their punch lines, a pick-a-chit section (questions on celebrity or an organization) and a buzzer round.

Vikas V.Shenoy from IIT, Chennai and Amrita Sabat from Wipro (an online entrant) won the Chennai City Finals.

Tycoons of Chandigarh
Undeterred by the lashing rains and near freezing temperatures, the Tycoons City Finals in Chandigarh was attended by an audience of more than a hundred.
Out of the 3200 participants at College Round, 50 were shortlisted to contest in the City Finals. The City Champions at Chandigarh are Ketan Chaudhary and Tushar Singla, both are from Punjab Engineering College.
The City Finals had two rounds, a written test and oral business quiz round. Ketan and Tushar will compete against the winners from Jallandhar, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Bhatinda, Dehradun, Jammu, Hissar, Karnal, Patiala,

Roorkee, Rohtak, and Panipat.
The City Final winners are all set to put themselves to test in regional finals in even more competitive rounds, which will begin from 16th February. The final of the event will be held on February 18-20.
