Q: Kindly share the breakup of questions in FMS exam?
A: In total there were 175 questions. The Sections-wise breakup was as follows:Quant: 50 questions; Logical Reasoning: 50 questions; Reading comprehension: 40 questions; and Verbal Ability: 35 questions.
Q: According to your assessment, which sections were tough and which were easy?
A: The Logical and Analytical Reasoning section had 50 questions with 46 questions based on Logical Reasoning while the rest were based on Analytical Reasoning. The questions ranged from low to medium level of difficulty.
The passages in the Reading Comprehension section were quite lengthy and ranged from easy to somewhat difficult. There were a number of completely direct questions, which could be solved using skimming and scanning techniques, though there were several tough indirect questions as well. Several questions had an option like all of the above or none of the above, though these were usually worded differently.
The overall difficulty level of Quantitative Ability section was medium and the questions asked were straightforward. Especially the modern math questions were easy. Some of the co-ordinate geometry questions based on co-ordinate geometry were easy but time consuming.
The Verbal Ability section had 35 questions. On the whole, the questions were challenging and tricky, as many of the questions were different from the usual. The Verbal Ability questions needed an in-depth knowledge of the language and its usage. The verbal section was vocabulary and reasoning intensive. The paper did not have any questions testing specific concepts of grammar.
Q: How would you rate the FMS exam paper at an overall level?
A: Overall, the FMS paper had a low to medium level of difficulty. One should have been able to solve about 90 to 100 questions in the given time limits with a fairly high level of accuracy.
Q: How would you compare FMS with CAT or XAT tests?
A: The FMS was relatively much easier than the CAT as well as the XAT, simply due to the nature of the questions asked in the paper. Most of the questions were straight-forward and hence test-takers who were suitably prepared for CAT and XAT would have done exceedingly well in this test.
Q: What is the likely cut off for FMS exam?
A: FMS has mentioned that, one must get more than 50 percentile scores in each of the four sections to qualify the test and call letters will be issued on the basis of overall percentile score. The overall cut-off will be around 300 marks.
