U21 is a great brand and fits well into our focus and portfolio. It leverages technology and internet to make quality management education available to working executives. The operations will continue to run as they are, Mr Sudershan told MBAUniverse.com.
Anand Sudarshan, an IIM Calcutta alumnus and an Engineer from National Institute of Technology, Trichy, is driving these initiatives. Earlier, in 1989, he co-founded the Microland Group, which was one of the early technology companies from Bangalore.
When asked how Manipal Education looks at the entire management education sector, Mr Sudarshan said, We see management education at three levels. First, is the Formal education, where someone with a few years of work experience after his graduate studies gets in and trains to be a business leader. This is what IIMs and other management institutes are supposed to do. The second layer of management education is for a vast majority of people who need more specific skill and knowledge inputs, while they are working or studying. Finally, there are current managers with say ten years of work experience who want to refresh their management thinking. He added, We participate in all three domains.
