Knowledge management is the next big movement, says Mindtree co-founder Ashok Soota

Knowledge movement is the next important movement. It is like the Quality movement of past. CII and industry will promote this like we did with quality movement. The Summit is being held in New Delhi from Nov 14-16.
Highlighting the importance of KM in todays corporate world, quoting management guru Peter Drucker, Mr Soota said, Today there are no poor countries, only ignorant countries! The same is true of companies.

Highlighting his recommendations on KM, Mr Soota said, I recommend four steps to foster knowledge management in India and create an ecosystem. Firstly, we need to reform our education system. We have severe quality issues and that is leading to talent crunch. Secondly, we need to develop KM as a social movement. Thirdly, we need to spread access to knowledge thru online portal and eLearning. And finally, an annual congregation of KM professionals like this one is required.

Mr Soota co-founded Mindtree in August 1999 along with nine other industry professionals. Prior to co-founding MindTree, Mr Soota was President of Wipro InfoTech from 1984 to 1999. In a span of 8 years, MindTree has become a global entity with 5000 employees and revenue of US$ 160 million.

Mr Soota holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Roorkee University (now IIT, Roorkee) and an MBA from the Asian Institute of Management, Philippines.

CII Knowledge Management India summit, being held from November 14-16 in New Delhi, is organized to create a more robust Indian ecosystem that generates economic value through the effective harnessing of knowledge and intellectual capital, within knowledge-based organizations and industries.
