Cognizants launches B-plan competition Board Room

The contest will be an opportunity for management graduates to come up with new business avenues for Cognizant. It can be related to Cognizant opening a new development center, a new geography for business, venturing into a new service vertical or horizontal, or a new service offering. Responding to MBAUniverse.com query on the objective behind this initiative, Cognizant spokesperson said, Cognizant has always fostered a spirit of entrepreneurship within the organization and this has been the key to our success. The objective of this contest is to promote entrepreneurship across B-schools in India and abroad.

The contest is structured in four phases. First, teams need to register on www.cognizant.com. Then they will have to submit an Executive Summary of their idea. Phase III will see Semifinals where Top 20 teams will contest for a place in finals. At this stage, each team will be mentored by a Cognizant Manager and will submit a detailed business plan for evaluation by the judges. The Finals will see top 7 teams contest where they present their idea to the Senior Management of Cognizant to win a variety of prizes. Says Cognizant, This contest will also serve as convergence point for B-School Graduates in India and APAC and the Cognizant Team. The first prize is Rs 200,000 while the second prize is Rs 100,000.So who can participate in this contest?

According to Cognizant, a team should consist of final year MBA students only and may consist of a minimum of three and a maximum of four members. They need not belong to the same B-School and the same student participating in up to two teams. Cognizant says it will seriously consider incubating the winning idea within the organization by setting up a core team. The winning team will have the option of being part of this initiative.
