MDI on expansion drive, to increase students intake

The institute will increase its intake from 180 students to 240 students for its Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM). MDI is also planning to increase this number to 360 in coming two-three years.

Speaking to MBAUniverse.com MDIs Admissions Director, Prof S Chatterjee said, MDI will add an additional section to its flagship PGPM program by increasing its intake from the present 180 to 240 seats. We have already received the AICTE approval for the expansion.

Further, Dr Sujit K Basu, Director, MDI informed MBAUniverse.com, This intake will be increased to 360 in coming two to three years as we are planning to increase 60 students each year.

When asked about the reason for expansion, Dr Basu said, There are two reasons behind the increase in these numbers: one is the increasing demand of MDI students in global market, and second is that we want to increase our intake as part of our social responsibility.

Institute will also increase the faculty keeping in mind the increasing intake of students.

MDI currently has 85 full-time faculties on campus. It is now planning to take that number to 100 faculty members by next year.

The increase intake of students is limited to PGPM only as there is no change in number of seats Post Graduate Programme in Human Resource in Management (PGP-HRM), and Post Graduate Programme in International Management (PGP-IM). Currently there are 54 students in PGP-HRM and 46 students in PGP-IM of which 14 are international candidates.

MDI Gurgaon offers Post Graduate Programmes in Management, International Management, Human Resource Management and a National Management Programme, the entry to which is through the Common Admissions Test (CAT) held by the Indian Institutes of Management.
