Symbiosis shares its admission process details

This year the SIBM selection procedure consisted of four different stages: spot essay writing, Case Study, Group Task and Personal Interview. These are some of the details revealed from Masterstroke 07, a report on SIBM admissions 2007.

SIBM says that in total about 97,000 students registered for the SNAPout of which 21000 applied for SIBM. From the applicants, 1056 students were selected for the second round of selection procedure.

Responding to a MBAUniverse.com query on admission process at SIBM, the institute said, SIBM evaluated the performance of the candidates applied for the exam on the basis of their team work, leadership and lateral thinking.
This year, SIBM introduced Group task in place of Group discussion. While sharing the difference between the two, SIBM said, In group discussion, topic is given for discussion which can be abstract or actual but in this group may or may not reach at a conclusion. On the other hand, in group-task a group is given an activity to perform that involves physical and mental components where activity can be achieved through coordinated team efforts. It gives a chance to check the sub-conscious state over a group discussion which can easily be tutored upon.

When MBAUniverse.com asked the qualities which SIBM looks in the students, SIBM responded, We look for well rounded personality, students with cognitive intelligence who dont have to be tutored from a scratch and initiative.
Eminent executives from prestigious companies like ITC, Morgan Stanley, PepsiCo, Futures Group, Bharti, SBI Life, were part in the selection panel.

Symbiosis Institute of Business Management is a part of Symbiosis International Educational Centre a Deemed University. Established in 1978, SIBM offers residential and part time MBA program.
