Addressing management aspirants, he said, Before you start planning for an MBA program, the first question you should ask yourself is Do I like the world of business? Do business developments appeal to me? If you dont have genuine interest, you will never be passionate about it.
Encouraging students to get work experience before entering B-schools, Dr Mitra said, A decade back, India was different. Todays booming economy offers many good jobs to students. They should use this situation to their advantage. But he also clarified that FMS considers fresh graduates: At FMS, we encourage all profiles to apply.
Taking about FMS, Dr Mitra said, Since its inception in the 1960s, we always ask students a simple but important question: why do you want to do an MBA in FMS? Students should give solid reasons for this answer because we evaluate honesty, sincerity and passion in a candidate.
Highlighting the rigor of his school, Dr Mitra said, At FMS, students have to go through a hectic program. Stamina is very important. Students at FMS spend their Sundays and other holidays studying.
