TiE organizes workshop with NIIT Chairman R S Pawar at Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT)

He shared these experiences during the TiE workshop titled Legends and leaders on July 6. The event also saw IT entrepreneur Mr Saurabh Srivastava, President of TiE Delhi and CNBCs Ms Shereen Bhan talk about Mr Pawars contributions.

While addressing the event, Mr Pawar talked about his four by four principles of creative and building process in entrepreneurship and called this era as era of passionate people. This decade is all about passion and process. We have a very passionate young generation, he said.

Mr Pawars four principles were: Spotting the gaps early, Break the mould, Stay the course and Fight, not flight. Explaining his principles he said, Entrepreneur always need to spot the gap early which means they should be proactive. With this as an entrepreneur you have to create something new and fresh. After the idea, execution is very important where an entrepreneur face lots of challenges and risks.

Further he talked about his other principles involved during building process. Here he talked about the leading and managing aspects. According to him, Leading involves the principle of inspiration and aspiration while managing involves respiration and perspiration. Commenting on the role of a leader, he said, Inspiration is the primary role of leaders because leaders always inspire and they have lots of aspiration.

Earlier, introducing the event, Mr Saurabh Srivastava said, This Legend and Leader series of TiE is an important opportunity for entrepreneurs to ask questions, and interact with great leaders of our times Today, entrepreneurs have an opportunity to learn from Mr Pawars illustrious journey.

In his address Mr Pawar also stressed on the role of planning. Planning is important, the plan isnt. Entrepreneurs must make plans, but never get stuck into them. Todays dynamic environment needs changes and adaptations, he said.

After Mr Pawars speech, which lasted for an hour, Ms Shereen Bhan of CNBC conducted a Q&A session. Also present on the dais was Mr Vivek Agarwal, CEO of Liqvid, a learning content development company.
IIFT students and entrepreneurs made full use of the opportunity by interacting with Mr Pawar and putting their questions.

Mr Pawar is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. He co-founded NIIT along with his batch-mates in 1981. NIIT enabled thousands of Indians to qualify to stake claim to a place in the global IT industry.
The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) was founded in 1992 with the mission to foster entrepreneurship globally through mentoring, networking, and education.

Established in 1963 by the Government of India, IIFT is an autonomous organization thats meant to help professionalize the countrys foreign trade management and increase exports by developing human resources; generating, analyzing and disseminating data; and conducting research.
