XIM-B to offer eight new electives in new academic session commencing June 21

The two-year full-time PGDM program, the two-year full-time PGDM (Rural Management) program and the four-year Fellow (Doctoral) Program will commence on June 21st 2007. And the three-year executive PGDM program will begin on July 9, 2007. The institute will also organize a 3-day orientation program prior to the commencement of the courses that will give an introductory exposure about the teaching and learning processes at the institute.

On the introduction of new courses, Prof. B. Mohanty Dean (Academics) at XIM-B told MBAUniverse.com, This year in the design of courses, many new electives have been added. Some of the new electives are Regulatory Accounting & Finance, Financial Econometrics, Financial Modeling, Non-Competitive Strategies, Indian Multinational Strategies, Personality Development, Process Improvement & Six Sigma and Managing Services Operations.
Commenting on the importance of the new electives, he said, These changes will give state-of-the-art exposure to our students in various domain areas.

This year students intake is the same in all program except one. Said Prof Mohanty, Students intake is the same in all programs except the three-year executive PGDM in which the number will increase from 60 to 120. In the others, we have 120 students both for the two-year full-time PGDM program and the three-year executive PGDM program, while there will be 60 students in the two-year full-time PGDM (Rural Management) program and 10 in the four-year Fellow (Doctoral) program.

XIM-Bs teaching methodology uses multiple modes. Prof Mohanty stated: We use various pedagogical methods, particularly the non-conventional ones such as video-conferencing and international exposure through visit to Europe, competitive participation in academic activities in other well-known institutes such as IIMs, IITs, and participation in the Outbound Learning Program (organized by the Tata SteelAdventure Foundation). These give students the opportunity for integrated development.

Established in 1987, XIM-B is focused on quality and rigorous education, academic infrastructure, technology and innovation. It has four regular programs, all of which are approved by the AICTE.
