Modeled after the Wharton Global Immersion Program, WIP is aimed to acquire an in-depth exposure to the business environment of a significant global market.
This study tour was facilitated by the Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) Office at the ISB, which has been active in hosting similar program by bringing to the ISB groups of students from Wharton, Darden, Haas, Bocconi, and Cox.
The students spent an educative and enriching time visiting different companies like Infosys and Microsoft. Several guest lectures on Business in India and Rural Marketing, made the visit more comprehensive. An introductory talk on Microfinance by Suma Reddy from SKS Microfinance inspired the visiting team. They also experienced the working dynamics of an Indian BPO, a biotech center, and a local NGO-run institution.
The trip gave us an understanding of regional business practices through direct interaction with managers, employees, and government officials during the company visits, said student participant Michael Ashmore. Added another student participant, Xenia Kolesnikov, We explored the value of different economic models as benchmarks for global business practices.
While summing up the experience at ISB, one of the participants, Vikram Madan, said, ISB is certainly a name to reckon with. It is amazing how it has grown in just five years. This is a real pointer to the rate of development that is taking place in India.
