IMI inducts senior industry professionals as honorary faculty

Mr Dwarka Nath, former director, Human Resources, Glaxo Smithkline Consumer Health Care Ltd, as honaorary faculty Members. Besides, there are many other industry professionals all set to join IMI.

Speaking to MBAUniverse.com, Dr. C S Venkata Ratnam, director, IMI said, We are consciously striving to interact with industry we need to have people not only from academics but also from industry.

Talking about objective of inducting industry people, he said, Our focus is more on research, policy and application orientation. With this move, the institute has decided to invite some of the eminent persons from various walks of life to be associated with IMI.

IMI constituted a research advisory council with eminent experts from outside. Based on the first round of discussion, three areas for research were identified: multinationals, mergers and acquisitions, and cross-cultural comparative management. In multinationals our research is focused on Indian multinationals along with international multinationals, Dr Ratnam added.

Mr. Stefano Pelle has been Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer for the business units of Perfetti in South Asia and Russia since September 2005. He has been with the company since 1998. He did his MBA (with masters in Marketing) from the Luiss University of Rome.He has been in India for more than eight years and has even published a book, Understanding Emerging Markets.

Mr Dwarka Nath is currently the National President of the NHRD Network. In June 2006, he was awarded the Career Achievement Award by Glaxo SmithKline International for his outstanding contribution to the Indian subcontinent businesses of GSK. He joined GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare in 1979 and retired as HR Director in August 2006. He is a BSc, LLB, and holds a postgraduate diploma in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations.
