Globalization is creating new opportunities for IIFT: K T Chacko, Director IIFT

Said Mr K T Chacko Director IIFT during his first convocation address at IIFT, The institute has been instrumental in meeting Nations external trade sectors needs of qualified Human resource.

Commenting on the impact of globalization Mr Chacko said, This is the millennium which has seen the impact of globalization at its fullest, not only have we seen unprecedented opportunities, but also have faced newer challenge...We have seized the new opportunities and are facing the challenges through new innovative ways of teaching training and research.

Talking about IIFTs strength he said, IIFT has successfully built its strength in education, training and research in international business...Our strength is our ability to review and restructure the curricula through extensive reviews involving external experts, our alumni network and also undertake consistent critical reviews by internal faculty members.

Talking about IIFT responsibilities towards society Mr Chacko said, We believe in creating both competent and successful mangers along with individuals who inherit the legacy of IIFTs commitment and insight into larger issues of our society. Towards this end, IIFT has introduced a social awareness programme last year. Two-year MBA students are required to spend a part of their learning time with NGOs.

Research is one of the major focus areas at IIFT.IIFT has strived towards keeping pace with the expanding domain of knowledge through its research. Our emphasis on research has increased significantly, he said.
Finally, Mr Chackoasked graduating IIFTians to follow the institutes motto and make it their guiding principle. He said, Let the motto of the institute - Excellence is way of life be the guiding principle for all your endeavors.
