Addressing students, he said, When you are leaving the portals of IMT, what is the key attitude that you must take with you? Your ability to innovate! Innovation is the name of the game today. There are no one-size-fits all solutions to complex and intricate problems that confront business today.
Reflecting on the changes happening in the new flat world and the rise of the Indian economy, Mr Nath said, We are amidst a great paradigm shift. The center of the universe is moving from the Pacific Ocean to the Indian Ocean A brand new global economic architecture is taking shape at a pace that is unprecedented in the history of the world. Indias role in shaping this architecture is comparable in scale and content perhaps only to the role India played five hundred years ago.
Outlining the challenges for graduates, Mr Nath added, These are exciting times to be a trained manager living and working in India, participating on a daily basis in the particular business of economics and commerce.
Globalization has brought India business into direct competition with the best in the world.
Mr Nath also noted IMTs journey with satisfaction: This is my annual visit to IMT. It gives me a feeling of great nostalgia.

Trade Policy (2004-09) was laid out with a coherent roadmap with twin focus on exports and employment.
Mr. Nath was educated at Doon School, and obtained his Bachelors Degree in Commerce from St. Xaviers College, Calcutta.
