In his Directors speech at IMT Convocation 2007, Dr B S Sahay, director, IMT Ghaziabad, said, In its efforts to bring world class education and give a wide exposure to students, IMT has been actively seeking to extend ties with foreign institutions. With these international collaborations, we now have the potential to send 60 students on exchange programs. This brings new opportunities for students.
Collaborations include those with the University of Wisconsin, US; HEC Montreal, Canada; University of Newcastle, Australia; and Chonnam National University, South Korea among others. Taking about the future roadmap he said, This is not the end: there are more collaborations in the pipeline. We plan to take the number of MoUs with internationally acclaimed B-schools and universities to 40 by 2008.
Talking about academics, Dr Sahay said, Course curricula are developed and updated every year to reflect the international standards and global corporate trends and needs. He also noted good progress at the four centers of excellence at IMT: center for environment management, center for global supply chain management, center for financial research and center for strategic information management. Henkel has announced the setting up of a Henkel Chair for environment studies at IMT. Dr Sahay mentioned that IMT organized four international conferences, three national seminars and 12 round table conferences.
He also talked about the IMT expansion: The IMT family has now grown to three campuses; in addition to our campuses in Ghaziabad and Nagpur, we started our first international campus in Dubai in 2006. IMT is the first Indian B-school to get approval from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Government of UAE.
Dr Sahay took over as director of IMT Ghaziabad a few years back. Prior to that, he was Dean (Research & Consultancy) and professorof operations management at Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon. He was also an adjunct professorat the School of International Business in Queensland University of Technology, Australia, andthe founding chairman ofCentre for Supply Chain Management.
