Rahul Bajaj, Baba Kalyani preside over IIM Indores 8th convocation

Mr. Rahul Bajaj, CEO, Bajaj Auto, and Mr. Baba Kalyani, chairman and managing director, Bharat Forge, and member of the Board of Governors of IIM Indore, presided over the function.

According to information shared with MBAUniverse.com by IIM-I, postgraduate diplomas of management and degrees for the executive postgraduate program of management were given out by Mr Kalyani, while Mr Rahul Bajaj awarded Scholistic Medals (IIM-Is gold medals for scholastic achievement) to three students -- Ankur Bhajanka, Ritesh Bansal and Rohit Arjunwadkar.

The IIM-I report states that Mr. Kalyani kickstarted the event by giving a welcome speech. In his speech, he wished students all success for the future. Then, Dr. S.P. Parashar, director, IIM Indore, outlined the growth his institute was witnessing: expansion in student intake, increase in faculty, expansion of infrastructure, introduction of customized industrial training programs etc. He also talked about the impressive placements recorded for the year. He thanked all the stakeholders behind the success of IIM-I and encouraged them to continue and make it what it is poised to be for tomorrow.

Mr. Rahul Bajaj delivered an inspirational speech for the outgoing batch of 2007: The future of the country is in the hands of the youth. However, the future is never an extrapolation of the past. Uncertainty is the order of the day. Similar to the nature of the market forces of the economy, the forces of change will continue The three mantras for success? Carrying a positive attitude toward problem solving, good listening more than mere speaking so as to gain maximum from the environment and continual learning since life is a learning experience. Leadership, Mr Bajaj added, is envisioning a better tomorrow and having confidence in the team to make it happen. Leadership means no tolerance for mediocrity, no compromise on integrity and consistence in action.
