Darden B-school finds India fascinating

Darden students have visited many leading Indian companies and have held several interactions with government officials including the President of India Dr Abdul Kalam Azad. On 16th March they also had a chance to hear Indian Railways minister Lalu Prasad when he spoke on the turnaround of Railways.

Speaking to MBAUniverse.com Prof Phillipee Sommer Director of Entrepreneurship Programmes at Darden School of Business, who is leading the party, said, There is great diversity in India. I think Indians are doing many things well. India is a very diverse and interesting opportunity.

Darden students met officials of many leading Indian companies including Infosys and Maruti Suzuki while on their tour. Trevor Winn, a Darden Student said, I found this trip very interesting. We have got opportunity to meet various government officials and corporate leaders. Commenting on the lecture by railways minister Lalu Prasad, he further added, I am impressed by the way Lalu has reacted to the problem addressed. There is an acknowledgement of the problems and they are trying to address it. We think government officials are sensitive to the issues and they are trying to address them.

The Darden School of Business was founded in 1954. According to Darden officials, the school focuses on six broad issues: innovation and entrepreneurship, e-business, sustainability, the extended enterprise, post-merger integration, and diverse leadership teams.Such international visits are one of the Dardens ways to provide learning to their students.
