The subject of discussion, GLOBALISATION: Issues & Challenges for Indian B-Schools, will be debated by thought leaders like Dr Bakul Dholakia, director, IIM Ahmedabad; Dr Pritam Singh, Professor of Eminence, MDI Gurgaon; Dr MR Rao, Dean, ISB Hyderabad; and Dr Prakash Apte, director, IIM Bangalore, among others.
The Conclave aims to enhance the quality of management education in India through better collaboration and convergence between academia and industry. AIMA says that the Directors Conclave looks at bringing together a mix of top management educationists and corporate HR heads. It has been acclaimed for its topical relevance and practical usefulness.
The event will be a roll call of stars from the domain of business management both from the education sector as well as the industry. The welcome address will be delivered by Maj Gen G K Nishul, director general, AIMA, while the keynote address will be given by MDIs Dr. Pritam Singh. Prof. R A Yadav, vice chairman, AICTE, will deliver the inaugural address and Dr. Parthasarthy,Minister of State (Member)will give a special address. Dr. C.S.Venkatratnam, Director, IMI will deliver vote of thanks.
The rest of the Conclave will be divided into three sessions. The first session, on The Making of a Global B-School, will be chaired by ISBs Prof. M.R. Rao. IIM-As Prof. Dholakia will talk on Leadership role of Indian Management Education in the International Scene; IIM-Bs Dr. Apte, will talk on Building Global Managers: the B-School Perspective; Mr Aquill Bussar, executive director, HR, IBM, will talk on Profile of a Global Manager: Industry Perspective.
The second session on The Business of Business Education will be chaired by Mr. K.K. Nohria, advisor, Crompton Greaves, Mumbai. Dr N.M. Kondal, Vice Chancellor, NMIMS, Mumbai, will talk on Governance and Organizational Structure of B Schools; Prof. M M Pant, Ex Pro Vice Chancellor, IGNOU, will talk on Networking and Collaborations in B Schools; Dr S.P. Parashar, director, IIM Indore, will talk on Collaborations and Exchange Programs.
The last session will see a panel discussion on Industry Business Schools Interface: Developing Global Managers; this session will be chaired by P. Dwarkanath, former director, HR, GlaxoSmithKline Beecham, and Dr. B S Sahay, director, IMT Ghaziabad.Panelists for this session include Mr Gantantra Ojha, director, HR, SAIL Delhi; Dr. A K Balyan, director, HR, ONGC, Delhi; and Dr. Venkatratnam, director, IMI.
AIMA was created as an apex body of professional management, with the active support of the Government of India and industry stalwarts in 1957, to pool management thoughts in the country. It develops national managerial ethos and facilitates the development of its members -- professional individuals as well as 3,000 corporates to be thought corporate-institutional leaders.
IMI, the venue for this years Directors Conclave, was established in 1981 as an autonomous non-profit educational society under the Societies Registration Act 1860 in collaboration with the Geneva-based International Management Institute to meet the widely-felt need for internationally oriented training for managers at all levels in industry, government and public systems.
