A short note on Ranking Methodology follows.

Research Methodology Overview
Since 2010, MBAUniverse.com conducts its annual MBAUniverse.com B-school Ranking which is recognized as one of India’s most credible MBA Ranking. As a trend setter, this ranking has always used only hard-facts and objective-data for rankings. No perception surveys or qualitative assessments have been used in this survey. A brief overview of research methodology follows.

Research Methodology Overview: The ranking will be conducted over four phases:

  • Step 1: Stakeholder Feedback Analysis, Literature Review of Research and Methodologies
  • Step 2: Development of Questionnaire
  • Step 3: Invitation for Participation, Data Collection & Verification
  • Step 4: Statistical Analysis
  • Step 5: Finalization & Publication of Rankings

Eligibility Criteria: Participation is open to Institutions that meet following criteria:

  • B-school must offer an MBA/PGDM that is recognized by UGC or AICTE or any other competent Regulatory Body by Ministry of HRD, Government of India
  • Must offer a 2-year Full Time MBA/PGDM Program
  • A minimum of 3 batches must have graduated for the 2-year MBA/PGDM Program
  • Director/Head of Institution must be willing to endorse and accept responsibility for all data submitted.
  • 1 Year MBA equivalent programs offered by ISB Hyderabad and other B-schools are NOT considered for this ranking since their cohorts are significantly different in work experience.

Research Method & Weightages
Factor analysis is used to reduce a large number of variables into fewer numbers of factors. This technique extracted ‘maximum common variance’ from all variables and slotted them into a common score. As an index of all variables, we used this score for further analysis. Based on Factor Analysis, following weightages were assigned for three clusters in last year’s survey. This year, based on data received, and some modifications in the questionnaire, these weightages might change marginally.
