KMAT Kerala 2027: Expected Exam Dates, Registration, Pattern, Syllabus, Eligibility and Result

KMAT Kerala is a computer-based MBA entrance exam conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Government of Kerala. Graduates with a three-year Bachelor's degree can apply, and qualifying candidates become eligible for MBA admission in Kerala universities and affiliated colleges. The exam is held in two sessions a year, and the score is valid only for that year's admissions. The table below summarises the key facts of KMAT Kerala, based on last year’s KMAT Information Bulletin and notifications. CEE is expected to confirm these KMAT Kerala Exam 2027 details soon. 

CEE Kerala has not announced the KMAT Kerala 2027 exam dates so far. The expected timeline below is based on the KMAT 2026 exam dates, which are also given below for your reference. All 2027 dates are tentative and will be updated immediately on MBAUniverse.com once CEE releases the official notification.

Both KMAT Kerala Exam 2027 sessions follow the same exam pattern, syllabus, fee, eligibility and qualifying marks. The differences are only in the exam dates and schedule: how long the application window stays open, how early the admit card arrives and how quickly results are declared. The two 2026 question papers also had an identical format, though the mix of topics within some sections varied, as the last row of the table shows. The KMAT 2026 cycle shows clear contrasts, which can help you decide which session suits your preparation timeline for 2027.

KMAT Kerala has simple eligibility criteria. There is no age limit, final-year students can apply, and the minimum marks required in graduation are set by the university you apply to rather than by CEE. The details below are from the KMAT 2026 notification, and CEE is expected to retain them for 2027.

• Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed a Bachelor's degree of at least three years' duration in Arts, Science, Engineering, Commerce, Management or an equivalent field. For MBA admission, candidates must also meet the minimum marks prescribed by the university to which they apply, so it is important to check the requirement of each university before admission.
• Final-Year Students: Candidates appearing in the final year of their qualifying degree are also eligible to apply for KMAT Kerala, provided their results are declared before the MBA admission process begins.
• Nationality, Nativity and Age: Both Indian and non-Indian candidates can apply for KMAT Kerala. However, only Keralite candidates are eligible for reservations and fee concessions. There is no upper or lower age limit.

The KMAT Kerala application fee depends on the candidate's category, and ST candidates pay no fee at all. The category-wise fee for KMAT 2026 is given below; the KMAT 2027 fee will be confirmed in the new notification.

• The fee is paid online only, through Internet Banking, Debit Card or Credit Card.
• When the payment succeeds, the "Pay Application Fee" tab on the candidate's home page turns green. If it has not turned green, the payment has failed and the candidate may try again; duplicate or failed payments are returned to the source account.
• A deduction from the bank account is not proof of payment. Only the "Transaction Successful" screen confirms it.
• The fee is not refunded and cannot be carried forward to a future exam, and an application cannot be withdrawn once submitted.
• Fee concessions apply only to Keralite candidates.

KMAT Kerala registration is done only online, through the "KMAT Online Application" link on www.cee.kerala.gov.in. In 2026, CEE extended the last date in both sessions, but you should not rely on an extension. Complete the application early and keep the Application Number and password safe, because you will need them until the end of the admission process.

Five Mandatory Steps to Apply

1. Registration: Enter basic details to receive a system-generated Application Number, and create a strong password of at least 8 characters with at least one letter, one number and one symbol.
2. Fill Application: Read the Information Bulletin, fill in all mandatory fields carefully and click "Save and Finalize". No changes are possible after final submission.
3. Pay Application Fee: Pay online through Internet Banking, Debit Card or Credit Card.
4. Upload Photograph: Upload a recent, studio-taken passport-size colour photograph with a light background (JPEG, 150 × 200 pixels, 15 KB to 100 KB).
5. Upload Signature: Upload your signature in black or blue ink on white paper, scanned and cropped (JPG, 150 × 100 pixels, 4 KB to 100 KB).

After completing all five steps, print or save the Application Acknowledgement Page for future reference. Do not send it to the CEE office. 

Profile and Photo Correction Window
Before admit cards are released, CEE opens a short correction window. Candidates can log in to the KMAT Candidate Portal to check their profile, email corrections to name, gender, mobile number, date of birth, email ID or nationality to [email protected] with supporting documents, and replace a defective photograph or signature through the "Memo Details" menu.

KMAT Kerala is a 3-hour Computer Based Test with 180 objective, multiple-choice questions spread across four sections. Questions carry equal marks, so every section counts in proportion to its number of questions. The KMAT 2026 exam pattern is given below and is expected to continue in 2027.

KMAT Kerala Marking Scheme

• Four marks are awarded for each correct answer.
• One mark is deducted for each wrong answer.
• No marks are deducted for questions left unanswered.
• The official documents do not mention any sectional time limit; the 3 hours apply to the full paper.

KMAT Kerala Paper Format 2026
The final answer keys of both KMAT 2026 papers reproduce every question, and they show the same format in both sessions:

• Section order: questions are numbered continuously from 1 to 180 without section headings: English (Q1 to 50), Quantitative Aptitude (Q51 to 100), Data Sufficiency and Logical Reasoning (Q101 to 140) and General Knowledge and Current Affairs (Q141 to 180).
• Four options: every question has four options, A to D, with one correct answer.
• Short, standalone questions: Session I had no passage-based question and Session II had only one, and neither paper had charts or data sets.

According to CEE, the KMAT Kerala syllabus is based on the fundamentals of the 10+2 (Class 12) curriculum. This means the exam tests concepts you have already studied at school, applied in an aptitude format, rather than graduation-level subject knowledge. Questions come from four areas:

• English Language Usage and Reading Comprehension: 50 questions testing the use of English and the understanding of reading passages.
• Quantitative Aptitude: 50 questions based on Class 12-level mathematics fundamentals.
• Data Sufficiency and Logical Reasoning: 40 questions on reasoning and on judging whether the data given is enough to answer a question.
• General Knowledge and Current Affairs: 40 questions on general awareness and recent events.

A smart KMAT Kerala preparation plan starts with the numbers in the official exam pattern. These five facts, worked out from the KMAT 2026 pattern, qualifying rules and the two 2026 question papers, should shape how you study and how you attempt the paper.

1. One Minute per Question
KMAT has 180 questions in 180 minutes, which gives you an average of one minute per question. Speed and accuracy therefore matter as much as concepts. Practise timed section-wise tests so that you can recognise quickly which questions to attempt and which to leave.

2. English and Quant Carry More Than Half the Marks
English Language Usage and Reading Comprehension and Quantitative Aptitude together account for 100 questions and 400 of the 720 marks, or about 56% of the paper. Give these two sections the largest share of your preparation time, while not neglecting the other two.

3. General Knowledge Is a Fifth of the Paper
General Knowledge and Current Affairs carries 160 marks, about 22% of the total. General awareness builds up over time, so make reading the news and revising current affairs a daily habit well before the exam.

4. Qualifying Is Achievable; Accuracy Decides Your Rank
General and SEBC candidates need only 72 marks to qualify, which equals 18 correct answers with no wrong answers, or 20 correct and 8 wrong. SC, ST and PD candidates need 54 marks, for example 14 correct and 2 wrong. However, qualifying only makes you eligible; your KMAT score carries 80% weightage in final selection, so a higher score improves your admission chances. Since four wrong answers cancel the marks of one correct answer, attempt questions only when you can eliminate most options.

5. Vocabulary, Number System and Kerala GK Carry the Most Questions
The two KMAT 2026 papers show where the questions actually come from. In English, 44 of the 100 questions tested vocabulary and 43 tested grammar. In Quantitative Aptitude, number system was the largest topic, with 22 of the 100 questions. In reasoning, analogies, odd one out, blood relations and series made up 37 of the 80 questions, and in General Knowledge, economy (14), Kerala GK (10) and geography (9) led the list. Some questions even repeated across sessions, such as the word "equivocal" and questions on Operation Sindoor and GST, so solve both 2026 papers early in your preparation.

The KMAT Kerala admit card is issued online only and is not sent by post. In 2026, CEE released admit cards six days before the Session I exam and eight days before the Session II exam, so expect the KMAT 2027 admit card about a week before your exam.

How to Download the KMAT Kerala Admit Card

1. Visit www.cee.kerala.gov.in and open the KMAT Candidate Portal.
2. Log in with your Application Number and password.
3. Click the "Admit Card" menu item on your profile page and download it.
4. Take a printout; a colour printout is preferred for proper identification.

CEE issues exam day guidelines before each session. The rules below are from the KMAT 2026 Session I guidelines, issued in Malayalam on 17 February 2026, and are likely to remain similar in 2027. Candidates without an admit card are not allowed to take the exam.

1. Report at the exam centre at the time printed on your admit card, carrying the admit card downloaded from www.cee.kerala.gov.in.
2. After the reporting time ends, a Mock Test familiarises candidates with the computer-based format; the KMAT exam follows.
3. The exam is objective type, with 180 multiple-choice questions to be answered in 3 hours.
4. Carry one original photo ID: Aadhaar card, Voter ID, Driving Licence or PAN card. This is compulsory.
5. Calculators, mobile phones, smart watches and other electronic devices are not allowed.
6. Once you have reported, you cannot leave the centre until the exam ends.
7. Parents are not allowed inside the building where the exam is held.
8. Bring your own pen, pencil and other necessary items, and do not exchange them with other candidates.
9. Sit only in the seat allotted to you.
10. Follow the invigilators' instructions strictly.

KMAT Kerala is conducted at centres across all districts of Kerala. While filling in the online application, candidates choose four city codes in order of preference from the list published by CEE. If too few candidates choose a particular city, CEE may allot a centre in another city regardless of the candidate's choice. CEE does not accept requests to change the exam centre once it has been declared, so choose your four cities carefully. The KMAT 2027 city list will be published with the notification.

CEE publishes the provisional KMAT Kerala answer key on its website soon after the exam. In 2026, the key was released the day after the exam in both sessions, and candidates had about three days to challenge it.

How to Challenge the KMAT Kerala Answer Key

• Log in to the Candidate Portal and select the "Answer Key Challenge" menu.
• Enter the details of your complaint and pay ₹200 per question online. Complaints without the fee are not considered.
• Provide the bank account details to which a refund can be made if your challenge is accepted.
• Complaints sent by post, email, fax or by hand are not accepted.
• Subject expert committees review all challenges, and their decision is final. If a complaint is found genuine, the fee for that question is refunded. Marks for deleted questions are distributed as per the ruling of the Hon'ble High Court of Kerala in 2002(3) KLT 871.

After reviewing challenges to the Session II answer key published on 1 June 2026, the Expert Committee changed nine answers: five answers were revised and four questions were deleted.

CEE declares the KMAT Kerala result in two stages: a provisional result with candidate responses, followed by the final result and score card. In 2026, the Session I final result came 8 days after the exam, on 2 March 2026, and the Session II final result came 17 days after the exam, on 17 June 2026.

How to Check the KMAT Kerala Score Card

Log in to the Candidate Portal on www.cee.kerala.gov.in with your Application Number and password to view your score and download the score card. Candidate responses can be viewed through the "Candidate Response" menu once the provisional result is published. Complaints about the provisional result, other than answer key complaints, are emailed to [email protected] within the window notified by CEE.

KMAT Kerala Qualifying Marks (Cut Off)

Qualifying candidates become eligible for MBA admission in universities, university departments and affiliated management colleges, including autonomous colleges, in Kerala. Qualifying alone does not guarantee admission. The KMAT score is valid only for MBA admissions in the same academic year and cannot be carried forward to later years.

Documents Checked at Admission
Proof of nationality, nativity, reservation category, age and academic qualification is verified by the college or university at the time of admission. Selection is also subject to the admission criteria and eligibility prescribed by the Government, universities and institutions concerned.

Reservation for Keralite Candidates
Only Keralite candidates can claim reservation or fee concessions. The KMAT Information Bulletin includes the official lists of Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Eligible Communities (OEC) and Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC).
