IIM Lucknow BS in AI & Business Analytics (BS AI BA) Programme Overview 
The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM Lucknow) has launched a Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Business Analytics (BS in AI & BA) marking a significant departure from the IIM's traditional post-graduate management programme offering. For the first time, one of India's top management institutes is admitting students through one of the India’s most competitive gateways: the JEE Advanced. This is a four-year, full-time, fully residential programme, with the inaugural batch commencing in the 2026-27 academic session. 

The IIML BS in AI and BA program design philosophy is distinctive. Rather than treating technology as an add-on to a management degree, IIM Lucknow has placed AI and data analytics at the very core of the curriculum, then layered it with the institute's established strengths in strategy, finance, marketing, operations and human resources. The stated goal of the programme is to produce graduates who are not merely managers but, in the institute's own words “AI architects, strategists and ecosystem builders.”

IIM Lucknow BS (AI & BA) 2026: Program Highlights 
IIM Lucknow is offering its first-ever four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) in Artificial Intelligence and Business Analytics for the 2026-27 academic session. The key program highlights are given in table below. 

Curriculum and Course Structure: 8 Semesters, 4 Years
The BS (AI & BA) curriculum is built on a layered design: a strong base in Mathematics and Statistics, followed by programming and computing, then Artificial Intelligence and Business Analytics on top. The programme spans eight semesters across four years, with each course delivered over roughly 45 hours of lectures, tutorials and lab work. Lab-based courses are marked with an asterisk (*) in the institute's official structure.

IIM Lucknow BS AI BA Eligibility 2026: JEE Advanced Required
To be eligible for the IIM Lucknow BS (AI & BA) 2026 programme, an applicant must:

• Be an Indian citizen.
• Have completed the 10+2 (or equivalent) examination in 2025 or 2026, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects.
• Have qualified JEE Advanced.

Additional conditions for IIM Lucknow BS AI BA Admissions 2026 are:

• Age limit: Maximum 21 years as on July 31, 2026.
• Relaxation: A 5 per cent marks relaxation applies for SC and ST category candidates, in line with Government of India norms.

Selection is based on a candidate's academic performance and JEE Advanced score. In effect, the BS (AI & BA) admits exclusively from the pool of students who have cleared one of India's toughest engineering entrance examinations, a well thought-out approach to attract top-tier quantitative talent into an IIM classroom at the undergraduate level. 

IIM Lucknow BS AI BA Seats 
The inaugural 2026-27 batch is reported to admit 60 students for IIM Lucknow BS AI BA Admissions 2026. Admissions follow the Government of India reservation policy for Central Educational Institutions (CEIs). The category-wise reservation is as follows:

Candidates claiming any reserved-category benefit must hold a valid certificate in the prescribed format, to be produced at the time of document verification.

IIM Lucknow BS AI BA Fees & Scholarships 
The programme fee for the BS (AI & BA) is ₹5,00,000 (Rupees Five Lakh only) per year, taking the total cost of the four-year degree to approximately ₹20 lakh, exclusive of any residential, mess or incidental charges that the institute may notify separately.

Importantly, IIM Lucknow has provided for financial support: merit-based fee waivers and scholarships may be considered on the basis of JEE Advanced performance, applicable to both the BS programme and the planned Dual Degree route. IIM Lucknow BS AI BA Admissions 2026 applications are submitted entirely online through the IIM Lucknow admission portal at iiml.ac.in/bs-artificial-intelligence. Here is the process, as laid out in the official instructions.

Step 1: Keep your documents ready

Before starting, applicants should have scanned copies of:

• Class X (SSC) Mark Sheet and Certificate
• Class XII (HSC) Mark Sheet and Certificate
• JEE Advanced Scorecard

Step 2: Register and fill IIM Lucknow BS AI BA Application Form

IIM Lucknow BS AI BA Admission 2026: Important Dates
The full admission timeline, as notified by IIM Lucknow, is below. Candidates should track each list-and-acceptance window carefully, since seats lapse if the acceptance fee is not paid by the stated deadline.

At the time of reporting on August 17, students must complete programme registration, document verification and first-term fee submission in person at the IIM Lucknow campus, and produce original academic certificates along with the standard set of supporting documents, including a medical fitness certificate and the anti-ragging affidavit (signed by both student and parent). Failure to produce original documents can lead to cancellation of admission.

Career Prospects and the Tech MBA Pathway
IIM Lucknow positions BS (AI & BA) graduates for roles such as AI Engineer, Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, Business Analyst and Analytics Consultant, across sectors spanning technology, consulting, financial services, healthcare and e-commerce. The institute's programme brochure lists an indicative roster of major recruiters associated with IIM Lucknow including McKinsey, Bain, Accenture, Amazon, Deloitte, Google, Microsoft, IBM, EY, and PwC.

The integrated Tech MBA route

Perhaps the most interesting programme feature is the structured pathway into IIM Lucknow's planned Tech MBA, scheduled to launch in 2027-28. Under this design, eligible BS students can transition into the two-year Tech MBA after completing the third year of the BS programme, thus creating an integrated dual-degree pathway that lets a student earn both a BS in AI and a Tech MBA from an IIM. Candidates should note that the Tech MBA (2 years) and the Integrated BS + Tech MBA Dual Degree (5 years) are slated to launch from 2027-28, after the BS programme is operational. 

Prof. M. P. Gupta, Director, IIM Lucknow, earlier remarked that the new programmes on Artificial Intelligence at IIM Lucknow blend business acumen with technological depth. IIM Lucknow, he said, aims to bridge the gap between technology innovation and commercially viable business models which will serve as a powerful catalyst in developing AI capacity.

Prof. M. P. Gupta assumed charge of Director IIM Lucknow in April, 2025. Earlier he has served as Head of the Management Department (2016-19) and Dean (Planning) at IIT Delhi. He is known for pioneering works in the area of e-governance. He has been closely following ‘Digital India’ and ‘Smart City’ programs of the Government of India (GoI). He is also steering a European Union (EU) funded project ‘EU-India Cooperation Platform in Future Internet and Electronic Media’.
