XLRI Induction Ceremony 2026: A Prayer Service Rooted in Jesuit Tradition
The XLRI induction ceremony opened with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolising wisdom and the pursuit of knowledge. Readings from the Bhagavad Gita, the Bible, the Guru Granth Sahib and the Holy Quran reflected XLRI's commitment to diversity, harmony and respect for all faiths. Special prayers were offered for wisdom, ethical leadership, academic excellence, social responsibility and the well-being of the entire XLRI community.

The Prayer Service brought together students, parents, faculty members, staff and administrators in a spirit of gratitude, reflection and purpose. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem, followed by warm interactions among students, parents, faculty and members of the XLRI community, setting the tone for the academic journey ahead.

XLRI Director and Dean’s Message to the New Batch
Dr. (Fr.) Sebastian George, SJ, Director, XLRI, encouraged the incoming cohort and their parents to embrace the journey ahead with curiosity, compassion and a spirit of collaboration. He emphasised that leadership is rooted in trust, empathy and collective growth, and highlighted that human progress has been shaped not merely by intelligence but by the ability to cooperate, learn from one another and work towards the common good. The Director urged students to cultivate values-driven leadership and contribute positively to society while upholding XLRI's tradition of excellence and integrity. His message set the tone for a batch that XLRI expects to combine professional competence with a strong sense of social responsibility.

Dr. Sanjay Patro, Dean Academics, marked the occasion as a significant shared milestone that celebrated grand dreams and bold ambitions. He urged the new batch to uphold XLRI's core Jesuit principle of "magis" - the constant striving for greater excellence and service to others. The induction programme, he noted, is the first step in introducing students to XLRI's unique culture, values, academic rigour and leadership philosophy.

XLRI Honour Pledge: A Commitment to Integrity and Diversity
As part of the ceremony, students took the XLRI Honour Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to integrity, ethical conduct, respect for diversity, academic honesty, inclusivity and the pursuit of excellence for the greater common good. Through interactions with faculty members, administrators, alumni and fellow students, the incoming cohort will gain insights into the institute's legacy of nurturing responsible leaders committed to creating a positive impact in business and society.

XLRI Jamshedpur: India's Oldest Management School
XLRI - Xavier School of Management is a premier private management institute founded in 1949 by Fr Quinn Enright, S.J., in the steel city of Jamshedpur. XLRI positions itself as the oldest management school in India, and over more than seven decades it has grown into a top-ranking business school of international repute with a wide portfolio of management programmes and research publications. The institute's guiding motto is "Excellence with Integrity," drawn from the Jesuit ideal of magis - ever greater, ever better.

XLRI holds two prestigious international accreditations, AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and AMBA (Association of MBAs), along with the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) accreditation. XLRI recently marked its Platinum Jubilee, celebrating 75 years of excellence, which underlines its standing among the top MBA colleges in India. For over seven decades, the institute has remained steadfast in its mission of developing competent, values-driven leaders who combine professional excellence with social consciousness, a mission the 2026-28 induction reaffirmed.

XLRI Admission Through XAT
Admission to XLRI's flagship management programmes is through the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT), which XLRI conducts every year on behalf of XAMI. The XLRI admission 2026 process for the current intake was based on XAT 2026, which XLRI conducted on Sunday, January 4, 2026. Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their XAT score, followed by the institute's selection stages, before the final XLRI admission list is drawn up.

Aspirants targeting the next XLRI batch will need to appear for XAT 2027. XAT remains one of the most important national MBA entrance exams alongside CAT 2026, NMAT 2026 and SNAP 2026, and a strong XAT score keeps the door open not only to XLRI but to several other leading B-schools. Candidates preparing for XLRI admission should track XAT 2027 notifications and exam-day updates closely.
