The pre-PI score is 10x ÷ 36 for x months up to 36, then a flat 10 beyond that, so a candidate with five years scores the same as one with three rather than being penalised. Post-PI the weight halves to 5 and is multiplied by a panel-assessed quality score of 0.25, 0.5, 1, 1.5 or 2.
