IIM Ranchi has maintained its upward trend in placement for another consecutive year and has busted the myth of economic slowdown with a rising trend in highest, average and median salary packages in Placement 2017.
IIM Ranchi has recorded yet higher placements for 2015-17 batch with high domestic and international placement packages and higher average salary than in last year placements. International placement has gone as high as Rs.57 lakhs and average salary has also gone up to Rs. 15.24 lakhs.
Releasing the final placement 2017 report IIM Ranchi has shared that it has completed its final placement 2017. 91 companies that visited IIM Ranchi for campus Placement 2017 included 59 new recruiters. Extending 166 offers to 165 PGDM and PGDHRM students who participated in placement 2017 reinforced the faith of corporate sector in IIM Ranchi.
Key Placement trends
The 6th placement season at IIM Ranchi, the 9th Indian Institute of Management has seen a rise in number of recruiters, first time recruiters, highest salary and average salary despite a large batch size among new IIMs.
Large batch size
There were 165 students who participated in Placement 2017 as against 156 students participating in placement last year. Out of the 165 students, 118 are in PGDM 2015-17 batch and 47 students are in PGDHRM 2015-17 batch who participated in placement.
Rise in Highest and Average salary
PGDM 2015-17 batch
There are 118 students in PGDM 2015-17 batch. 3 students opted out of placement 2017. The PGDM batch witnessed 75 companies including 48 new companies visiting the campus. 145 offers were made with 24 lateral offers and 27 PPOs/PPIs.
Beating the slowdown in placement offers, the placement season 2017 for PGDM students at IIM Ranchi saw an overall rise in highest and average salary over last year. Highest international salary has gone upto Rs.57 lakhs in Placement 2017 from Rs. 55.23 lakhs last year. Highest domestic salary has gone up to Rs. 26 lakhs from Rs. 25.5 lakhs last year.
Average salary in PGDM Placement 2017 at IIM Ranchi stood at Rs. 15.24 lakhs while average salary domestic stood at Rs.14.86 lakhs. Last year the average placement was 15.14 lakhs and for domestic salary the average placement stood at Rs. 14.80 lakhs.
PGDHRM 2015-17
IIM Ranchi is the only IIM to offer a specialized 2-year course in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM). The course structure is designed by the NHRDN and is continuously updated with the help of top academicians and industry experts.
The batch of 2015-17 has 47 students as against 38 students last year. 2 students opted out of the placement process to start entrepreneurship venture and to pursue higher studies. Students who participated in placement 2017 made their worth felt in the industry by bagging top offers from some of the biggest names in the country. 39 companies visited the campus to roll out offers to the HR students. Out of them there were 22 new recruiters who participated in the placement process.
Average salary for PGDHRM 2015-17 batch has increased to Rs. 13.78 lakhs and Rs. 12.82 lakhs for domestic average salary. The highest International salary for PGDRM stood at Rs.57 lakhs while highest domestic salary in Placement 2017 stood at Rs.19 lakhs.

The rising trend in placements was corroborated by the increase in the average compensation. The average CTC for the top 25% and 50% of the batch stands at 20.96 LPA and 18.01 LPA respectively. This season saw Lateral offers to the people with higher prior work experience.
41% recruited in Sales & marketing Function
Sales & Marketing emerged as the highest recruiting function in Placement 2017 with 41% of the batch getting placed in it. Finance contributed 18% followed by IT & Analytics with 13% and Consulting with 12%. Strategy and General Management contributed 11% recruitment and operations contributed 5% of the placement.
Diverse offers
Diverse profile offers were made to the IIM Ranchi students during the placement 2017 by the recruiters. In Sales & marketing domain the offers were made for Corporate Brand Management, Digital Marketing, Business Development Media Marketing, E-commerce, International Marketing.
In finance domain offers were made for Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, Treasury Risk Management, Equity Research Asset Management, Retail Product Management. In Operations the offered roles were for Head - FTL & LTL, Supply Chain Consulting, Fleet Management , Ancillary Revenue & Cost Management, Warehouse Management, Supply Chain Strategy.
